Driver/Operator – Pumper Course

 Description

This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge for Driver/Operator-Pumper as described in Chapters 4 and 5 of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1002, Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to operate a fire department pumper during emergency situations. The course is designed around classroom lectures and field evolutions covering such activities as relay pumping, drafting, foam operations, apparatus maintenance, and driving.

The Driver/Operator course provides the tools necessary to obtain certification through the Texas Commission of Fire Protection (TCFP) This course is formatted for online course work and 2 days for skill practice. The skills portion and the final exam are done on-site and proctored according to §427.201(d) and §427.305 (in addition to the TCFP exam). Once the course is completed students need to be aware that their TCFP passing exam score is valid for 2 years and that if they do not apply and obtain that certification prior to their exam expiration date, they will have to retest in order to qualify to apply for the certification.

Prerequisites

Participants are required to present a valid Class C (passenger) driver’s license to the instructor on the first day of class. Participants that do not have a valid driver’s license will not be allowed to remain in the class.

Fire Officer I Course

Description

This course is designed for the first-line company officer/supervisor. The Fire Officer I course satisfies the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 1021), Chapter 4 and provides the tools necessary to obtain certification through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP). The purpose of this course is to improve your abilities to manage a single fire company. This includes responsibilities such as the development of an Incident Action Plan (IAP), personnel management and mentoring, and community relations

This course is designed to be online and self-paced, with two days to administer skills. The skills portion and the final exam are done on-site and proctored according to §427.201(d)  and §427.305 (in addition to the TCFP exam).  Once the course is completed students need to be aware that their TCFP passing exam score is valid for 2 years and that if they do not apply and obtain that certification prior to their exam expiration date, they will have to retest in order to qualify to apply for the certification.

Hazmat Incident Commander Course

Description

This course is designed for an individual responsible for Hazardous Material incident activities to include the development of strategies and tactics and the ordering and the release of resources. Has overall authority and responsibility for conducting incident operations and for managing all incident operations at the incident site. and provide clear guidance that ensures adequate presentation of the information required to meet the Job Performance Requirements (JPRs) of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1072, Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications, 2017 edition and provides the tools necessary to obtain certification through Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP). This course is designed to be on-line and self-paced, with 1 day to administer skills. The skills portion and the final exam are done on-site and proctored according to §427.201(d) and §427.305 (in addition to the TCFP exam).
